Between April and November of 2019 I travelled across Australia, New Zealand and Los Angeles documenting the ANZ Overwatch Cosplay Battle for Blizzard Entertainment.

It was a challenging job - I was a one-man crew with a tight shoot schedule in each city and I would not have access to studio space, lighting or camera gear besides what I could carry with me.
I utilized my Canon 5Dmk4, Osmo Pocket, Mavic Pro and Zoom Recorder to get the job done, editing the footage from home on Avid Media Composer and delivering remotely via Dropbox.
All videography, photography and editing by Josh Groom for Blizzard Entertainment.
My first task was to travel to each team and create team profiles - incorporating multi-cam interviews, portrait photography, drone footage, b-roll overlay and archival footage.
Next up, a return visit to each team to create a photo gallery, studio teaser and cinematic trailer for the finished costumes.
These assets would be used by the judges to selects the Grand Prize Winner and for online voting to decide the Community Prize Winner.
After the online community vote and judging process - the winners would be announced at PAX 2019 in Melbourne.
I travelled there for the day to capture the announcement, as well as shoot a video wrap-up of Blizzard at PAX on Saturday and a photo gallery of event highlights.

The culmination of the ANZ Cosplay Battle would be traveling with the winning team to attend Blizzcon 2019.
I spent the weekend creating video and photo assets for Blizzard Australia - you can check out the video wrap-up momtage below…
